$newjob is okay. Im almost used to getting up at 7am for a 9am start. The leaving at 17:30 is quite good though.

The best bit of course is having a new area to explore for RGL review purposes. Chiswick it would seem has a lot of good restaurants and pubs. Ive only had go to two(Oriental Brasserie and Yupa's of them twice and thats because other people wanted to go. I still havent run out of new places to try. One of which is michelin starred(La Trompette) and another which is the sister restaurant to Le Cassoulet

eastercon 2008

I went to my first Eastercon at easter. I enjoyed myself. Who knew that going to programme items could be fun. All the items with Neil Gaiman were great even other panelists did seem to defer to him. I really enjoyed the critical items i went to. The not the clarke awards was particulary great. I also did a fair few of the comic panels.
China Mieville GoH spot was very good. Charlie Strosses was okay but it was stuff i mostly knew anyway. The funniest panel was almost certainly sex and the singularity.

The beer was pretty good in the real ale bar and on the monday night I even talked to random people I didnt already know. I even geeked out about the eee with Charlie Stross and someone else at David Devereux. Also Charlie showed off his sony ebook reader. Very shiny it was.

Im thinking about going to LX next year. Although Im not entirely sure about the guests. I certainly intend to go to Odyssey in 2010. Since Im a big fan of two of the guests and Heathrow isnt Bradford. Possibly as soul destorying but a lot closer to home. Not that I felt the need to flee as much as I thought I might have done. Although breakfast was a bit scary at times.

I also found a few pubs outside the hotel whilst I was there. I had to escape from the fans. There was only so much I could take. :) things within 2k of the radisson edwardian

hmm this seems to have actually turned into a coherent con report. How strange. Blarp

Woke up with quite a bad hangover. Drinking sleigh bell all night without eating food considered bad. Opened presents with family. they seemed please with what i got them. Then we had our now traditional xmas day swim and sauna. felt a lot better after that. went to the pub for a couple more pints of sleigh bell. Then we had our traditional spaghetti bolognese for lunch. now wondering what to do while mum watches eastenders. i might watch iplayer stuff on my eee.

My colo box is down. It was affected by the power cut in park royal yesterday. This means im not getting any email currently. if its urgent ring me.

So I survived. Curses!
Managed to make my way home okay. According to uon I didnt seem pissed when I got in. I only have vague recollections of this.

At some point early this moring i got up and vomited in the sink. Went back to bed. When i finally woke up again i was feeling okay. Possibly still pissed though.

Felt a bit full the rest of the day but ive coped.

Thanks to everyone who turned up. Especially Dean for putting up with lots of pissed people and for taking me for a kebab when i was really flagging at Bayswater. I got my second wind after that.

so yesterday i went to the zoo in vienna. They had leaf cutting ants who you could watch cut leaves. it was fantastic. there may be pictures at some point.

i possibly drank too much beer last night or not enough water it depends on how you look at it.

waking up at 4 in the morning lying across the bed is probably a good clue there

I seem to have made it too vienna in one piece. The hotel bar wireless works. As this post proves. That or im going to get a very large bill this month.
So far i have only used 2 forms of transport in vienna. Tomorrow I possibly have plans involving trams.

Our new chilli plant for this year from martin has grown 3 chillies.

How exciting! Much better that our last one which kept on flowering but never produced any. It did try to take over the room though.

What are you afraid of?

Not a lot really. although horror films do make me feel queasy at times. I think I may have developed a fear of heights in recent years.

So yesterday was the first day of the Openguides Hackfest at our place. I however wasnt doing any hacking(well not much) so made a paper airplane with flipboard paper instead.

I also improvised a flipboard by using those hooks you can get with a sticky pad on the back and a door.

What i did this week.

So last week i did a couple of things.
One day for lunch I went to the Narrow Boat. It was tasty.

On Thursday night I went for a couple at the Eagle instead of the Wenlock. Then joined the usual reprobates and a bonus guest at the Bavarian Beerhouse where I was defeated by the pork shank but overcame the Porno-Brause(4.6Mb mp4 file). A german drink where you put a packet of sherbert in your mouth then a vodka and finally you shake your head. Its intense and so very sweet. The beer was tasty too and the europop and umpah music not to bad.

Today I went to Croydon and finally used my shiny new Surrey CC membership card to get into the match being played at Whitgift. Surrey Lost :( It was exciting though. Roll on the twenty20 games.
